Hello friends,
I wanted to share a little piece of my heart with you today—something stitched with care, patience, and a whole lot of love. Recently, I sewed a baby dress for my daughter, and to make it extra special, I decided to embellish it with a tiny bunch of hand-embroidered flowers. It’s a small detail, but one that holds so much meaning for me.
The floral motif features five cheerful blooms in a rainbow of colors—blue, pink, purple, and red—each with five petals and a sunny yellow center. I used satin stitch for both the flowers and the leaves, working with just one strand of thread to keep the look delicate and refined. The stems are done in stem stitch, my go-to for graceful, flowing lines. And for the centers of the flowers, I attempted French knots.
Why It Matters
This little embroidery isn’t just decoration—it’s a symbol of the care and joy that goes into creating something by hand for someone you love. Every stitch was made with my daughter in mind, imagining her wearing the dress, smiling at me, or simply napping peacefully with these tiny blossoms blooming softly on the dress.
Here’s a photo of the finished embroidery on the dress. I hope it brings a smile to your face the way it does to mine.
Looking Ahead
I’m planning to do more hand embroidery on garments and accessories, especially for my daughter. It’s such a lovely way to personalize pieces and preserve memories in thread. I’ll be sharing more of my projects soon and some needlepainting tips for those curious to try it themselves.
Thanks for letting me share this little moment with you. Wishing you all a creative and cozy day!
With love,
Flora
