Embroidered Neck Design---Progress

Do you remember this one? It’s a project I had to set aside some time ago because I ran out of threads right in the middle of stitching. I didn’t want to substitute colors and risk losing the harmony of the design, so I decided to wait until I could get the exact shades I wanted.

Now that I finally have all the threads ready, I’m excited to start working on it again! There’s something so satisfying about returning to a piece after a break — it feels a bit like catching up with an old friend. I’ve made just a little progress so far; I’ve added a few leaves to the design and started planning the big pink flower that will bloom on the right side.

The leaves are bringing lovely life and balance to the composition, and I can already imagine how beautiful the finished piece will look once that large flower is completed. Sometimes, even slow progress feels rewarding. Each stitch adds a bit of color and joy. I’m looking forward to sharing more updates as this embroidery comes back to life!

Like many stitchers, I have a few UFOsUnfinished Objects — tucked away in various corners of my workspace. As of now, there are five of them waiting patiently for my attention: this neck design, embroidery projects on two sarees, a pillow cover, and a delicate doily.

There’s such a wonderful sense of satisfaction in completing something you started. Still, I think every crafter will agree that having multiple projects in progress is part of the creative rhythm. Sometimes inspiration strikes before one piece is done, and that’s okay.

Free Hand Embroidery Pattern --- Rose With Leaves

Here’s a free hand embroidery pattern for you to use in any project. You can rotate the design to create a corner motif on handkerchiefs, outline it in redwork, or fill it with long and short stitch—or any other stitch you prefer.

Happy stitching!

Embroidered Reversible Bag

I would like to share the images of the bag I embroidered a few weeks ago. I made it into a reversible bag and gifted it to a little girl. She was so happy to have received it. You can find the how-to-sew tutorial on my sewing blog.

When you turn it inside out, it will look like this.

Here is a close-up of the embroidery.

I used fly stitch for the flowers, buttonhole stitch for the leaves, and outline stitch for the stems. I used variegated threads in shades of pink and yellow to embroider the flowers.

Happy stitching!

Embroidery Pattern Book Give-Away Winner!

I am glad to announce the winner of the embroidery pattern book give-away.

It is Happygirl of All Things Pretty.

This time I used the random number selector to select the winner. I didn't count the usual lovely comments from other readers, repeats in comments, and the comment I made myself.

Congratulations Happygirl! I hope you will love this book. Please send your address to my e-mail id flora.flowers.boo@gmail.com.

Thanks to everyone for showing such a great enthusiasm to participate in this give-away.  I was delighted to read about your favorite types of embroidery.  I wish to learn some of them which I do not know.

I will post my own patterns at least one per month. So keep reading my blog!
